How to create an active filing system.
Create an active day-to-day filing system for correspondence and papers that come in every day.
Make sure every paper you handle goes into one of the categories to keep your desk neat, and purge documents as soon as you don’t need them anymore.
Daily paper categories.
- Mail: daily incoming mail.
- To Read: papers that need to be reviewed.
- Pending: waiting to hear back or take action.
- To File: papers that have been reviewed and are ready to file.
- To Respond Back: papers you need to handle with a call or email.
- And so on, according to your routine and needs.
Every paper needs a place.
A simple active filing system helps prevent papers from piling up and makes it easier to know what needs attention, what is pending and what is ready to be filed.
- Read
- Pending
- To File
- Respond Back
